Spanish police arrests, probes 9 jihadists over Brussels attack

In its continued fight against terrorism, no less than nine suspected jihadists were arrested in the the Catalonia region following a raid by Spanish police.
The suspects who are all Moroccan citizens living in Spain, are alleged to have a direct connection to people suspected of carrying out attacks in Brussels in 2016 that killed 32 people and wounded 300 others.
Spanish police say exhibits like guns and drugs were found during the arrest of the suspects who are being questioned now and will make their first appearances in court on Thursday.
A Spanish interior ministry official said the arrest of the nine in the Catalonia region was focused on Oussama Atar, the suspected mastermind of the attacks on Brussels’ airport and subways last year.
Last month marked the first anniversary of the deadly attack at the Brussels airport which is regarded as the deadliest in Belgium’s history
