FG bans doctor in public hospitals from private practice

Henceforth, medical doctors working in public hospitals who engage in private practice have been banned following a decision reached by the Federal Government on Wednesday.

Reports say the decision was reached by the FG during the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Senate House in Abuja.

The Minister of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole and Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige in a joint press briefing after the FEC meeting both noted that the labour laws especially the Trade Dispute Act was contravened by most of the unions that recently embarked on strike.

Both ministers also warned that henceforth, the doctrine of no work no pay which was contained in the nation’s law would be invoked for workers embarking on strike seen to have contravened the Trade Dispute Act.
