Nigeria’s Super Eagles leaped from the 44th spot of September FIFA Coca-Cola World Rankings to 41st position in the latest rankings released on Monday.
The Eagles had dropped six places last month but has now risen after securing qualification for next year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia following their 1-0 victory against Zambia over a week ago.
However, Nigeria remain fifth in Africa behind Tunisia (28th in the world) – who have become number one in Africa followed by – Egypt (30th), Senegal (32nd) and Congo DR (35th) in that order.
Algeria who will host the Eagles in their final Group B World Cup qualifying game in November dropped five places from 62nd to 67th, while Cameroon and Zambia rose from 45th to 42nd and 78th to 77th respectively.
Meanwhile, there were no changes in the top 6 ranked teams in the world. World Cup holders, Germany held on to the number one spot, Brazil, number two, Portugal, third, Argentina, fourth, Belgium, fifth and Poland 6th.
France moved up one place to rank seventh, Spain climbed three places to stay eighth, Chile didn’t move from ninth and Peru moved two places to stay on 10th.
The next world rankings will be released at the end of the next international window on November 23rd, 2017.
