Former minister of Aviation and a notable critic of President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government of Nigeria, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, says it is high time the country is restructured or broken into different countries.
The human right activist stated this on Wednesday in response to a recent comment credited to a founding member of Arewa Consultative Forum, Tanko Yakasai, that the Southwest are the people “misleading the Igbo” into wanting to break out from Nigeria.
But in his reaction, Fani-Kayode said the northern leaders must either stop politicking with people’s live or begin to see the imminent division of Nigeria.
He said, “I say enough is enough! The only way forward is to restructure Nigeria or break her. Whether anyone likes it or not I have spoken the bitter truth. I have reflected the minds and hearts of millions of people from the south and the Middle Belt.
“Whether they wish to acknowledge it or not, the truth is that if the core North does not retrace its steps, not only will Nigeria break into two or more pieces but people like Professor Ango Abdullahi, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai and all those that come from that zone will suffer immeasurably as a consequence of it.”
In an earlier tweet on his twitter handle, Fani-Kayode had also accused Buhari of rewarding the Fulani herdsmen for butchering Nigerians by appointing their spokesman as the Secretary of the Federal Character Commission.
