Three days after the Oniyani of Iyani Akoko, Oba Joel Daodu, was abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers along Owo/Ikare- Akoko highway in Ondo State, the monarch has been set free.
According to reports, Oba Daodu who was kidnapped on the 16th of April, was found walking aimlessly by the roadside in Ayede-Ogbese, along Akure-Owo highway from where he was taken to a nearby police station by good Samaritans.
His release was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, Segun Ajiboye, and the spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph.
The Ondo State PPRO who informed that the police were on the trail of the kidnappers did not state whether the monarch paid the ransom demanded by the kidnappers for his release.
The abductors had demanded for N5 million (five million) for his release, but after negotiation, reduced the ransom fee to N3 million (three million).
